Just ducky

I went to a nearby Farmer's Market Saturday to check it out and see my friend who had a booth for the first time. Her booth was so busy, I didn't even get to chat--which is awesome!! My mom also wanted some organic produce and came home with a bag full.

Andrew sat in a stroller--not his favorite thing-- very nicely but spotted the "ducklings" so we went to check them out. Mom had bought a loaf of bread so she gave him the heel to tear apart and toss to the ducks--which drew a crowd, as you can see! We didn't think they'd come this close--but they did!!

He thought the duck and fish frenzy was hilarious.

With this new baby on the way, I'm trying hard to make the most of my time with Andrew. I'll know I'll be wishing for more soon!

Let's avoid TMI...

...but I did want to let you know that I had a breast biopsy done today to check the spot my OB/GYN found and that I had a sonogram on a few weeks ago.

The surgeon was super-nice and very comforting. He said the spot is the size of a pea and was very watery, which usually means it's benign.

They sent out the two little drops he extracted to the pathologist and hopefully we'll know something soon. If it comes back inconclusive, they will have to do the more invasive biopsy. I'd like to avoid that!

So I'm praying for wisdom for the pathologist and that the results will be clearly benign so we can move on with life!

The spot where they did it is sore tonight and I'm not feeling great (pregnancy related, no doubt) in general, but I'm glad that part is over and I really need a weekend!! In three days, I saw our baby and a spot in my breast--talk about a roller coaster ride!! Phew.

Prayers are appreciated--will keep you updated!

Tomorrow I'm taking Andrew to Tolmachoff Farm, our annual tradition, and can hardly wait! I'll post pictures, of course! :)

Latest and greatest

PHEW! It's been about a week now that I've felt more normal--better every day, even. I'm at ten weeks pregnant so that second trimester is so close, I can taste it!! Or is that the boiled egg I had for breakfast??

Thankfully, Andrew still naps a couple hours every day so I always nap with him. That's my saving grace.

Did you know I have a blog just for the pregnancy?? I didn't want to bore uninterested people with all the gory details!

Here's the link!

Proudgrits is Preggers

This is from last weekend, when Andrew spent Saturday with Nana and Papa so Drew and I could have a day out together to celebrate Drew's birthday. Andrew looooves Popsicles! I told him I wanted to take his picture eating it but he thought I wanted a picture OF the actual Popsicle!!

This was mere hours before his haircut, by the way.

He did eat it, as evidenced by the green chin and shirt.

And yesterday, I took Andrew to the park before our big grocery shopping trip. He had a blast, as always. It was H-O-T, HOT! But this is Arizona and, gee, it's only mid-October!!

He had to take his trains with him, of course.

Oh, and this is his new haircut!

He enjoyed burying them in the wood chips...

...and sending them flying down the slides.

Here he is doing the big "CHEESE" with his new Halloween shirt. It's hard to find un-scary ones so this one fit the bill. It's from Old Navy and has that hip, tighter feel--kinda weird but whatever.

And, I dunno, he just looks HUGE to me in this picture! My little baby boy is growing up.

That's it for now. We've got plans take Drew's new remote-control plane out for a ride today and to go to the park down the road. Will take the camera, of course!

Big brother in training

I had to share these of Andrew with our friend's son, Max, from a few weeks ago.

Andrew shared his toys and kept him entertained...

wanted to hold him...

and kissed him!

He was so gentle and so sweet--he's going to make a wonderful big brother!

Andrew update--2 and 10 months

If you read this, PLEASE leave a comment! You don't even have to sign in! But please do leave your name. I feel like I'm maintaining this just for me, which is fine...but it'd be nice to have some followers!!

Well, my all-day queasiness and exhaustion are now augmented by a cold or allergies--stuffy nose, sneezing. Lovely.

Getting rest is my #1 priority right now. I had today off from work and, naturally, Andrew was up and rarin' to go at 7:15 a.m., whereas usually I'm waking him up out of a dead sleep and dragging him out of bed at 7:30. Ridiculous. So Drew put on the TV for him and gave him some breakfast and juice, which bought me an extra hour in bed, although with frequent interruptions. Here's me as taken by Andrew when he brought me some of his pretzels.

He left saying, "Go to sleep, Mommy. Stay in bed." Yes, sir!! He can probably tell how wiped I am. Poor, poor Mommy.

Well, I've been at my "job" helping my friend with her daughter 20 hours/week for ONE YEAR now! I've got to take my camera to capture them playing together and how much fun they have--it's a riot! They're playing together more, whereas Andrew is usually very independent. They play catch, push each other on the trikes, paint, have snacks...it's a very relaxing way to spend the morning and I'm glad he has a little friend, to practice being a big brother. He has definitely come a long way with sharing, being kind, ticking to a routine and rules, keeping his hands to himself (except for hugs and kisses, of course), etc. It's been a very valuable experience for us both! I've gotten to practice juggling two kids!

We are amazed at how well Andrew talks now. Many of his funny phrases come from his favorite Thomas movies ("What was THAT noise?") and his favorite Noggin show, "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy" ("But that's too boring!") but it sure is charming. He speaks in complete sentences and even uses advanced vocabulary a lot. Like, "I don't want to go to the store, either." This morning, he said he was "enjoying" his toast. Wha...?? He says "probably," too. Oh, and starts sentences with, "See..." just like we do. Last night he was chattering away in the closet while I put stuff away then he paused and said, "That was a good story." YUP!

He still loves using people's names and greets the receptionist at work with her name, although he still refers to her as "Good Morning" every once in a while. When my mom was here last weekend, we were all congregated on the couch and he stood in the middle of us and opened his arms wide and said, "Mommy, Daddy, Nana...let's go to the park together."

His favorite phrase is "That's a great idea!" It usually follows him asking us for something, like a lollipop or to go outside to play, and we repeat him to make sure we understood. "You want what? A lollipop?" And he says, "That's a great idea!" like we just came up with it. HA!

He's still a Thomas fanatic and his collection builds little by little as his play gets more sophisticated and his trains break. Now the broken ones are allowed to go into the sandbox or to be painted, which he loves. He mimics the movies he's seen and has a great imagination. Unfortunately, his favorite plot line involves paint being dumped on the trains and the big mess that ensues, so we have to constantly police him to keep him from pouring hand soap on his trains. But he loves burying them and "finding" them, and painting them and cleaning them off. The upside is, when he does get in trouble, taking the trains away absolutely devastates him, to it's an easy way to discipline consistently!

He is also still infatuated with my belly button so when we try to tell him there's a baby in there, he points and says "Be-bee," referring to the belly button. He's not getting it yet but that's OK. He can say belly button, in case you're wondering--he just prefers the old nick-name I suppose.

Here's a self portrait from last night. He looooves using the camera and is getting much more accurate!

Flippy floo

Here's a super-cute video of Andrew-mandrew doing somersaults a few months back. Totally cute. Enjoy.
